After suffering a 6-3 defeat the previous night to Tavistock,
the YMCA A
team needed a good win to keep the pressure on Callington at the top of
Division 4.
With the University only bringing 2 ladies, the YMCA were already 3-0
ahead on the evening and this soon became 4-0 as Melanie Francis and
Lyndsey Kendrick won their match 15-6 15-2.
Ryan Lambourne and James Travis won their first match 15-13, but then lost
15-7. After regaining their composure they went on to win the third game
15-5. Ryan and Geoff Harris won their first game 15-7 but then lost 15-9
and in the third game lost 15-13 to Nick and Jez. This was the
Universities first point of the night but proved to be vital.
The pressure was now on James and Geoff and after winning the first game
15-8, the YMCA pairing came unstuck in the second and lost 15-12. James
and Geoff regained their form and won the third game 15-7.
In the mixed pairing Waine and Ryan won their games 15-1 15-4 and Melanie
and Geoff won 17-15 15-9.
