The YMCA A team completed their season with another impressive
home display against BATS B.
The team knew that 8 points were needed at the start of play to win promotion
and the YMCA men showed no nerves with Ryan and James winning game 6 and game 1.
Geoff and James beat Ewen and Jon comfortably and the experience of James and
Geoff meant only 7 aces were dropped in their match.
It was a similar story for the YMCA ladies with Waine and Mel winning game 3 and
game 1. Waine and Lyndsey nearer came unstuck as Tamsin and Glynn tried
hard for Bats but lost 15-12 15-5. Mel and Lyndsey won their match 15-3
and 15-8.
With confidence overflowing, the mixed pairings had the opportunity of
making sure the team would be in division 3 next season.
Ryan and Waine (who had won the Plymouth and District Mixed Doubles
Tournament) beat Tamsin and Ewen 15-8 and 15-3.
Geoff and Mel won 15-3 and 15-5 and James and Lyndsey made it a 9-0 win by with
a game love, game 5 victory.
So despite all the injuries of the season, the team had done exceptionally
well and just pipped Callington to the top of the division.
