The students may have narrowly outscored their hosts by 3 aces, but it was the home side that scored the vital game winning points to record a close 7-5 victory.
Hero for Mayflower Wednesday was Neil Pandya who only conceeded one game.
The final event was the key moment in the match. Here Neil teamed up with the veteran Dave Atkins. With the match poised at 5 all they narrowly won the first fame 15-10. In the final game the University's Jez Bennett and Neil Prince almost snatched a draw. However, Neil and Dave held their nerve to win by the narrowest margin 17-16.
